Week 3 & Trip to York!
Well, the third week in Liverpool turned out to be quite uneventful. I still continue to be sick up to this day, so I spent most of the week in my room trying to get better before our trip this past weekend. It also didn’t help that one of my two classes was cancelled for the entire week, so I only had 5 hours of class last week.
This past weekend (16th-19th) certainly made up for it,...
Exciting News!
We just booked a hostel for Thursday and Friday night in York. We’re going to…. THE VIKING FESTIVAL! Hooray for all things Viking. And for not having class on Fridays. :)
Week 2.
Exploring Liverpool on Sunday turned out to be really awesome. Luckily it wasn’t raining anymore, so we got out of the hall bright and early to go past the city center that we had been seeing all week and went all the way to the docks. At last we got to see the Mersey! After running around on the docks for a while and getting our picture taking out of the way, we went into the Museum of...
SUPERLAMBANANA!
Yes, I have discovered… The Super Lamb Banana! The original is a 17 foot high, yellow statue created in 1998 by a Japanese artist for an art festival. There were then 125 two metre high mini-superlambananas created and decorated by other artists and placed all around the city in 2008. Apparently the Superlambanana has become somewhat of a symbol of Liverpool, along with the Liver...
Liverpool Exploration Postponed! :(
Today, we were supposed to explore Liverpool since it’s our first official weekend here, but unfortunately, it is raining. And according to my computer’s weather forecast, it’s 32 degrees right now. I think I saw a slight bit of snow mixed in with the rain! There is supposed to be a tiny bit of snow today, but even more next weekend.
We’re going to try and just hang out...
Update!
It turns out that U. of Liverpool’s orchestra is not quite on par with Pacific’s… I didn’t expect it to be. Since it’s not a class and there’s not really an attendance policy either, there were a lot of empty chairs at rehearsal on Thursday. We had 4 cellos (including me), and all of them seemed to be around the same skill level as I was. I found it really...
Day Four.
Well, this morning was certainly interesting. I woke up and had breakfast, and as I was in the kitchen a fire alarm started going off. Luckily, it wasn’t in my block. It appeared that the block just behind ours was having their fire drill this morning. Then I had that whole adventure with the straightening iron that I posted a few minutes ago… Luckily that didn’t trigger another...
Update on My Life
So maybe you’ve seen my pictures from the last couple of days but have been wondering, what has actually happened?
Well I left off yesterday with showing up to my class and it apparently being cancelled. I still don’t know why we didn’t have class! But I went to meet with the orchestra director and he gave me a cello to use. They showed me to the practice rooms and I played...
This made me happy..
I found out tonight that Australians DO say “shrimp on the barbie.” Duey said it when we were out at a pub and Katelynn (the other American) and I found it extremely funny. :)

Look right, before looking left to cross the street. Cars drive backwards in this country!
Day Two!
Well, today has turned out to be yet another interesting day.
My morning started off with a fire drill at 8 AM. Luckily, my RA warned us last night about it, so I got up a few minutes before and put on clothes and grabbed something to eat. It was a good thing she warned us, because as soon as we got outside, they were checking our names off - they fine students that don’t come down from...
YES.
After lots of time and money, I just received my email this morning telling me that my UK visa has been issued and it should be arriving at my house tomorrow. Hooray! That relieves a LOT of stress. Now I really feel like I can get ready to go to England.
Visa Process... Again.
So as some of you may know, in the last week of school I was going crazy trying to apply for my visa to study in the UK. I paid $450 and took several hours out of my studying for finals in order to get the whole process completed. Unfortunately, since neither Pacific nor Liverpool were helping me through the process, I submitted the wrong papers and was refused my visa… Bye bye, $450.
So...
